Rafting in the Smokies

It is best to only take those items and clothing on the trip that can get wet. Proper attire includes tennis shoes, shorts or a bathing suit, and a t-shirt. In cooler weather, you may prefer to stay warmer with a wool sweater, pants, a hat, and socks.

The closest river to our Gatlinburg cabin rentals or our Pigeon Forge cabin rentals is the Big Pigeon River. Located in Hartford, TN, the outpost provides the starting place for two different trips on the Big Pigeon. No experience is necessary for either trip. On one trip, during the five mile stretch of river that Rafting in the Smokies tours, you get to experience the thrills of 12 Class III and 2 Class IV Rapids, so needless to say, the Big Pigeon River will keep you entertained! The alternate trip option focuses on a Float Trip down three miles of calm water. So, depending on the interest level of the participant, groups can choose between the two levels and meet back up at the Outpost.
