Christus Gardens

Visionary Ronald Ligon founded Christus Gardens in 1960 after his recovery from a life-threatening illness. His journey back to health was marked with much thankfulness, and Mr. Ligon decided to build a memorial for his gratefulness to divine providence: Christus Gardens.

Christus Gardens features a dramatic and inspirational portrayal of the Life of Christ, complete with over 100 life-size figures set in realistic dioramas, an heirloom Bible collection, life-size painting depicting the Parables of Jesus, a 900 square foot mural telling many stories of the Old Testament, a world renowned Biblical coin collection, and the awe-inspiring face of Christ, carved in a 6-ton block of exquisite Carrara marble. Set to music and dramatic lighting and surrounded by lush gardens, this Gatlinburg experience won the 2001 Shining Example Award from the Southeast Tourism Society and is known as America's #1 Religious Attraction. The gardens change seasonally and new exhibits and displays are added continually, so each time you come to stay at our Gatlinburg cabins or Pigeon Forge cabins, you can experience Christus Gardens anew.
