If you missed the Craftsmen’s Fair this summer, now’s your chance to catch the Fall fair. The 37th Annual Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair begins today and runs through October 28th. The Gatlinburg Convention Center hosts the fair, as top artisans from across the country gather in this hugely popular show, recognized as one of the South’s top events.<\/p>\n

We usually see close to 200 booths, representing a grand variety of crafts in all the mediums you can imagine, and some you never thought of, from sculpted leather to glass to oil paint to musical instruments to raku pottery. Juries select the craftspeople as being top in their field, which makes the quality of offerings breathtaking.<\/p>\n

One of the signature features of the fair lies in the ongoing demonstrations made by the crafters of their skill, showing us all how it’s done, and making it look easy (until we try it ourselves). Grown-ups are entranced, and children are never bored.<\/p>\n

There will be music, of course, with several shows daily, performed this year by Dennis Lee and Band, and Tim Watson. Entertainment is included in the admission cost of $6 adults, children 12 and under get in free.\u00a0Hours are 10 am to 6 pm daily, 10 am to 5 pm on Sundays. Music shows are 12, 2 and 4 pm daily, 12 and 2 pm on Sundays.<\/p>\n
