The Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival opens this year with a stellar lineup of talent playing in several venues around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The 4-day festival takes place Thursday through Sunday, August 19-22, 2021.<\/p>\n

The festival features a myriad of hit songwriters performing tunes you know, and also explaining the intricacies of songwriting in workshops throughout the event.<\/p>\n

Headline shows occur nightly, and many of the performances throughout the event are free to the public – although each venue will have its regular charges and policies in place. Tickets are available in a variety of ways, including Festival membership, wristband rates, and individual events.<\/p>\n

Venues for the festival include, in Gatlinburg: Ole Red’s, Park Vista, SkyLift Park and Gatlinburg Inn, and in Pigeon Forge: The Listening Room and Dollywood.<\/p>\n

Check out the Lineup<\/a> to see the amazing range of talent this year, literally in the many dozens of songwriter-performers.<\/p>\n

The festival is a great opportunity to connect with an aspect of music that is often overlooked (except by hit performers), namely, writing the song in the first place. You don’t have to be a musician to love this rare chance to meet the music industry at the grass-roots level where the music all comes from in the first place.<\/p>\n

And then there’s the music.<\/p>\n

Once again the town will be filled with the sounds of bluegrass, country and the original American music that began, in part, from this Appalachian region. Sounds like a good time!<\/p>\n

The original Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival was started in 2012 in Gatlinburg by a legendary lady, Cyndy Montgomery Reeves, who knew a lot of people and pulled the first event together. A hit from the start, it seemed destined to continue and expand forever – see our feature page on the original Songwriters Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cindy passed away on August 8, 2019, from a long illness, and that year’s festival was cancelled. In 2020 of course, everyone’s plans for everything were cancelled, and now the new festival arises in 2021 with new organizers unrelated to the original festival, and a fantastic lineup.<\/p>\n

In fond memory of the lady and her great achievement, we look forward to a fun time and a rousing song-fest this weekend!<\/p>\n
