In early March of each year, two events occur, usually right together and frequently on the same weekend. You have to choose – or juggle – between magic and comedy, as Gatlinburg hosts a comedy improv festival and Pigeon Forge hosts a magic convention.<\/p>\n

The Winter Carnival of Magic<\/a> happens in the world-class setting of the Country Tonite Theatre<\/a> in Pigeon Forge. The 3-day convention features lectures, a dealer’s room, a close-up competition, a stage competition and 2 evening shows.<\/p>\n

Over in Gatlinburg at Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre<\/a>, the highly acclaimed, Broadway-class comedy troupe turns the stage over to a gathering of performers from across the country. The 2-day Gatlinburg Improv Fest<\/a> offers workshops at low cost, including one free, catering to all levels of skill. The Fest is a feast, of course, of funny performances and highly original work.<\/p>\n

So it looks as if you can have either a spellbinding weekend of magic or a sidesplitting time of humor, or maybe even both if you plan your time well. The two towns are just down the road from each other, and driving between them, or taking the trolley, is simple.<\/p>\n
