A Mountain Quiltfest 2019

A cozy mountain cabin and a nice warm and beautiful quilt just naturally go together, so it’s no surprise that the A Mountain Quiltfest is one of the most popular annual events in the Smoky Mountains. This year’s iteration is the 25th Annual and it’s taking place from March 19-23 in Pigeon Forge. Saturday, March 23, 2019 is the final day of the event, and it coincides with National Quilting Day which is coordinated by the Quilt Alliance and the National Quilt Museum.

Soak up a wealth of knowledge from quilting experts

One of the highlights of A Mountain Quiltfest every year is the abundance and variety of quilting classes that are open for you to attend. Each day of the event is packed with classes taught by renowned quilting instructors that cater to every skill level from beginners all the way to advanced quilters.

The instructors come from all over the U.S. to share their knowledge and spur a love of quilting in others, and it’s a great resource to take advantage of if you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the intricacies of the art of quilting. Some classes are centered on specific themes, while others are focused on general quilting practices and techniques. Be sure to browse the list and register early to secure your spot.

Submit one of your own creations in a variety of categories

Do you have a quilt that you’ve been dying to enter in a prestigious competition? If so, then A Mountain Quiltfest is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. The competitive show is open to entries from the public, and there are no fees to enter. The quilt you are entering must not have been judged previously at A Mountain Quiltfest.

The show is split up among nearly 20 different categories, and prizes are awarded for the top placing quilts in each category. These categories run the gamut, so there is likely something for everyone no matter what type of quilting you practice.

Browse the show and enjoy the cornucopia of quilted beauty

Even if you aren’t interested in attending classes or entering the competition, there is still so much to see and do at A Mountain Quiltfest. There are numerous demonstrations available, a variety of vendors will be on hand with interesting quilting products, and experts will conduct on-site quilt appraisals. Even just walking the showroom floor and browsing the many different types, styles, and sizes of quilts on display is an enriching experience. Your visit to A Mountain Quiltfest can be as productive or as leisurely as you want it to be.

About Tony Perez

I'm a people person, and I enjoy the atmosphere that working with Cabins Of The Smoky Mountains entails, interacting with different types of people and trying to relate to each one uniquely. From Michigan originally, I've been coming to the Smoky Mountains since I was a child, with family in Wears Valley. Summer fun for me is exploring the Cades Cove area, swimming in the creeks, and hiking Mount LeConte and many other trails. I love the Smoky Mountains.
