The street party is back again as Pigeon Forge starts its engines for three days and nights of the 34th Annual Fall Rod Run, Thursday-Saturday, September 15-17, 2016. Some of the fanciest custom wheels in the country gather here for this event, the great American art form known as Cruising the Strip.

The event draws thousands of extra visitors into town, come to mingle in the friendly crowds, and to watch the gleaming chrome and paint jobs slowly driving by.There’s lot of muscle on display too, with plenty of supercharged motors loping at low revs, and straining for the highway.

It’s the first weekend after Labor Day, which means for the 34th year running, the annual Shades Of The Past Hot Rod Roundup is coming to Pigeon Forge. The event is held again in Dollywood’s Splash Country grounds, Friday and Saturday, September 9-10, 2016.

Hundreds of amazing vehicles with gleaming paint and lots of muscle – and all of a vintage no later than 1972 – will again gather from all over to show off their lines and celebrate some of America’s best cars ever built. There will be multiple awards and a Second Prize of $10,000 – with the First prize again a ’32 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster, custom built by Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop, a famous native Tennessee operation.

Pigeon Forge shows the world what a real American party looks like on this early weekend, Thursday through Saturday, April 14-17. It’s the 2016 Spring Rod Run, and the streets are awake all day and LATE into the night with a slow cruise of automobiles built mostly for muscle, and totally for style.

If you thought about trying to drive anywhere in town during this event, change your plans, or at least slow them down to a steady cruise in low gear. Traffic is dense during this street party, and parking can be tricky – your good walking shoes are your friend in this event, and with so much to gaze at, it’s the best way to get around anyway.

Shades of the Past 2015 Hot Rod Roundup

Fall must be coming because Pigeon Forge has caught the muscle car fever again. The 2015, 33rd Annual Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup happens again this Friday and Saturday, September 11-12, at Dollywood’s Splash Country. It’s a family-fun affair with no alcohol, indoor restrooms, and a huge parking lot filled with amazing cars on display, none of which is newer than 1972 – sorry friend, you’ll have to park that new Caddy somewhere else!

Parking is plentiful at Splash Country for $12 – or you can park for free in downtown Pigeon Forge and take the trolley out for 50 cents. The show is open 8 am to 5 pm each day, and on Saturday the judging and awards start at 4:30pm. This is where a ’32 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster is given as the first prize, followed by $10,000 as 2nd prize! It’s the 32nd Annual Shades of the Past hot-rod roundup at Dollywood’s Splash country, all day Friday and Saturday, September 5-6, 2014.

This year again hundreds of gleaming automotive paint jobs will be on display, with shiny performance engines growling and snarling, at times. The site is a huge paved parking lot with grassy areas and trees all around. (more…)

Hard to believe it’s the 32nd year already of the famous Pigeon Forge Spring Rod Run, happening this Friday & Saturday, April 11-12, 2014. Hordes of classic cars and vehicles of all kinds, and thousands of enthusiasts have been pouring into town in preparation for this great event. (more…)
